The Greater Bay Area Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Application Summit & the 18th China R Conference (Guangzhou) will be held at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) from July 4–5, 2025. This conference aims to explore advancements in data science and artificial intelligence. It is jointly organized by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology(Guangzhou) (HKUST(GZ)), the Industrial Informatics and Intelligence Institute (Triple-I), the Industrial Data Analytics and Digital Manufacturing Laboratory (IDADM Lab), and the Capital of Statistics, with all sessions conducted offline.

Over its 17-year history, the China R Conference has fostered interdisciplinary exploration and practical applications of data science across industries. Collaborating with over 20 academic institutions in 15 cities globally, it has hosted approximately 50 conferences, delivered nearly 2,000 presentations, and attracted over 100,000 participants both online and offline. Topics span machine learning; AI; large language models; statistical theory; text/speech/image processing; astronomy; geography; psychology; sociology; healthcare/public health/epidemiology/bioinformatics/meteorology/pollution studies/urban planning/transportation systems/quantitative finance/industrial engineering/smart manufacturing/carbon neutrality/IoT/digital twins/resilient cities/data visualization/fintech/car networking technology.

IDADM Lab

Led by Prof. Juan Du in the Smart Manufacturing Domain, the lab addresses real-world industrial challenges by combining methodologies that integrate physics-based modeling, AI optimization, and data analytics. Its innovative breakthroughs, including award-winning algorithms that have been commercially deployed, drive advancements in intelligent monitoring, diagnostics, and predictive controls, facilitating digital transformation in the industry.
